“This thing could go the wrong direction, but he’s been offered a lot of money so far. The question really comes down to can you really walk way from a fair deal and say, ‘I’m not going to play football for a year’? I think at the end of the day, that’s a really hard thing for a football player to do. It’s easy to talk about when you’re angry and upset with negotiating tactics and think that you should be getting $75 million guaranteed rather than $66 or $68 million guaranteed. But come Friday, he’s going to have to sit there and say, ‘I’m unwilling to play football for a year’ and walk away from $60-something (million) guaranteed. That’s an extraordinarily difficult thing to do.”

“They stream all the shows. If my daughter misses her favorite show tonight, it’s not a big deal because she’s going to stream it tomorrow. So I don’t think this generation is conditioned (to schedule their lives around television). They watch things when they want to watch it. They stream shows and all that. I think kids are watching baseball, but maybe not all the kids are going to make an appointment on a Tuesday evening in July at 8 o’clock to sit down and watch the All-Star Game.”

“Mack Rhoades, he hires Barry Odom this past offseason and then minutes – literally minutes – before Barry Odom is about to get in front of the media at SEC Media days, this news leaks that he’s off to Baylor. Poor Barry Odom is up there, he’s hoping to talk about his team and how great his players are, it’s his first SEC Media days, and all he gets to talk about is how his athletic director – the guy who hired him – is off to Baylor. This looks, on the outside, like a complete disaster for Missouri. We are talking about a university right now with an interim chancellor, an interim president, they now have an interim athletic director, and I think ultimately that lack of leadership is why you might have seen Mack Rhoades make this move. Also, he’s a Texas guy. Maybe he wanted to get a little closer to home. But it’s still an absolute head-scratcher.”

“It’s going to happen one of these days. It’s certainly not going to happen (Friday) at Royal Troon. The weather is supposed to be absolutely crazy. As good as it was (Thursday), it’s every man for himself when the wind and the rain and everything that’s expected to be hitting that golf course (comes), especially in the morning. Mickelson is going to be going out in the early wave and they’re supposed to get the worst of it. So don’t look for any repeat performance of that 63.”

“To describe this world, it is kind of crass. When a bunch of guys are with each other, it’s very different than when any women are around. I wanted to kind of capture that and make it interesting and make you kind of wonder what that life is like and kind of make you want to be a part of it, or have it remind you of these kind of silly, stupid summer intramural leagues where you just go to play and stay in shape. It really is trying to speak to people who have ever played any sport in their lives.”
